Elver pass - A new elver pass has been installed by the Environment Agency at the Great Weir at Knapp Mill.  Elvers are frequently seen in the summer crawling over the metal hatches and stone walls of the weir.  Whilst it is likely that they previously managed to get through, the pass should provide the elvers with a specially designed substrate to assist them in this process and enable more elvers to populate the river above the weir.
